The Bilona method is a traditional Vedic process of making high-quality ghee from cow’s milk. It ensures the retention of essential nutrients and enhances the purity and taste of the ghee.
Steps of the Bilona Method:
- Milking the Cow – Milk is obtained from desi cows (like Gir cows) that are grass-fed and ethically raised.
- Making Curd (Dahi) – The fresh milk is boiled and then naturally fermented overnight to form curd.
- Churning (Bilona Process) – The curd is churned using a wooden churner called Bilona in a clockwise and anti-clockwise motion to separate makhan (butter) from the buttermilk.
- Heating the Makhan – The extracted butter is then slowly heated on a low flame to produce pure golden ghee while preserving its nutrients and aroma.
